“From France to the historic Gretna”
Ryan + Aurélie eloped to say their vows in Gretna Green, a place synonymous to the world for those runaway couples.
They did manage to sneak two of their closest friends along with them for the ride, and in the morning we all grabbed a quick coffee and just have a general chin wag. The beautify about elopements is they are always super relaxed, and the freedom is endless!
R+ A, had talked many times about portraits and locations, they had a strong fascination with the history that is Gretna, however also love architecture and like me had a strong fascination with derelict structures. I contemplated for a while, and they on the morning of the wedding I had the idea of going to a nearby venue, which I thought would fit the bill perfectly.
Kirklinton Hall is around 10 miles from Gretna, after contacting a good friend who ran the events there, we gained permission to use it – I was mega excited as I have always wanted to photography a wedding there. the history surrounding that is phenomenal too – It has had many uses in its time, but my favourite was it being a regular frequented casino by some of the nations biggest gangsters. Incredible.
Anyways after out we jaunt, we traveled back to Gretna, and utilised the surrounding areas, before the couple and their fabulous friends enjoyed a fine dinner at Smiths Hotel, before beginning their adventures across the Scottish highlands over the forthcoming week.
…and with that I’d like to end by wishing my congratulations once again to the fabulous two!
