All About Lifestyle and Family Photography
WHAT IS LIFESTYLE PHOTOGRAPHY..
Lifestyle photography is a broad term that encapsulates couple and family photography that aims to capture portraits of people in a more real-life scenario. These photography sessions are designed to depict a moment or even a day in your life. Whether you're going on an adventure, or simply staying at home baking. The primary goal is to tell stories about people's lives in an artistic manner and to capture the art of the everyday.
These photography sessions are sure to be full of emotion and fun. They not only capture natural memories, but also create a special day for yourselves as a family.
I call my lifestyle photography "Gravitate Shoots" and they are available as a shoot up to two hours.
PRE SHOOT CONSULT - ZOOM OR IN PERSON
I intend to promote a stress-free, familiar atmosphere in which we can gain an understanding of each-other at ease.
If you are considering booking my services - I recommend having a Zoom natter or if local, meeting for a coffee and a chat. This provides the vital opportunity for you to ask me questions and tell me all about yourselves and talk about any outcomes from your photography.
We can talk about locations or specifically the style of shoot you want. I have listed a load of variations below, all will create natural and beautiful photography. Creating images and memories you shall never forget.
Gravitate : Bristol Photography Shoots
The: Couple photography
These shoots are a great way to create beautiful artistic imagery of just the two of you.
They can be done anywhere - I normally recommend a location that means something to you - otherwise a park, woodland or beach work best for a nice intimate stroll.
Together we will create unique imagery by using a blend of my natural style combined with the fun and artistic 'awkward' portraits. The idea is to celebrate yourselves as a duo. I am happy to shoot whenever and for those who are interested we could do a more intimate 'raw' couples shoot within your home.
Whatever style you decide, I can guarantee you will leave with some beautiful memories that encapsulates who you are as a couple! If you are using this and a tester before choosing your wedding photography then I will also offer a discount on that too.

The reason I titled my shoots "gravitate" was to celebrate the attraction of two. Alongside the standard lifestyle shoots. I also offer raw shoots - a cosier romantic couple shoot.
The: Family Photography
It is amazing how fast your little ones grow up. Getting the family together to capture some precious memories that not only yourselves in present, but future them will treasure for life.
It can be done as a family unit, with the pets, grandparents or whoever. Why not walk your favourite walk, or head to the beach. We'll just walk and flow, I'll shoot my documentary style with a sprinkling of portrait fun. Lifestyle and natural combined in a glorious way.
Occasionally I host shoot days, and also offer my more personal family '24 Shoots.' These are designed for those who want completely unique and raw memories. Memories that encapsulate the true you.
The : Newborn photography
When people talk newborn photography, you often think of these cute bundles wrapped in hats and placed in props. Well that is not how I do it. I like to keep things a little natural. It is essentially a mini family shoot within your home. I'll get some images of your wee one alongside some of you all together as a family.
You want the hat wrap shots?
Although I have my more natural style of photographing newborns, I understand some people like the often seen newborn images of their child in hats and wraps. If this is the case I can link with a friend to create a dual package on request.
The : Raw photography
A unique experience that captures all things raw. Using natural light and shadow to celebrate yourselves in an artistic yet classical manner. It might seem daunting but it'll be fun and you'll immediately be put at ease. Due to the nature of this shoot, I recommend it take place somewhere you feel most comfortable.
Often the home is the best, but sometimes hiring an Air BnB or Hotel room can be best. The Raw Photography Shoot can be done as an individual but also works fabulously as a couple! Let's celebrate the natural! Let's capture time in art.

The: '24' Family photography Shoots
Unique to bristol, All day family photography
The "24" represents the 24 hours of the day. These 'day in the life' sessions are my way of capturing the true reality of family life. The laughter, tears, mishaps and utmost love. As you all know being a parent isn't always easy but my word it is rewarding.
It will all start with a pre shoot consult via zoom or over a coffee. This will be the initial icebreaker and allow us to talk about the day. I recommend combining a mix of in house time alongside some organised activities or trips.
It might be a photoshoot, but it will also be a fun experience and a day that hopefully will have a lasting impression, both mentally and physically in the form of photographic memories. You basically have me for as long as you wish on the day.
The: approach
Reportage is a word you might be familiar with, another is documentary photography. This is the style I take into these shoots as for years I have been a reportage wedding photographer capturing candid moments from throughout the day so it compliments the 24 shoot well.
Although I'll be sneaking around capturing all these moments - Interaction is also key. I'll come in as a relative stranger, but leave as a friend. Don't be surprised if you see me playing hide and seek, or drawing a picture. Part photographer; one part babysitter.
Alongside the reportage image We will occasion do a range of portraits. These tend to be done with a more natural and fun style about them. I will use my experience to encourage reactions and interactions. I am also partial to an awkward formal shot so if your game then I am game too.
The : Activities
Planning activities for the day provides an opportunity for a great depth of imagery. Literally anything goes, just think as me as your personal photographic biographer.
Some activities can involve the external. For instance a long walk in the park or up a mountain, paddle boarding, rowing boats, bowling, sledging bike ride or a surprise visit to the grandparents. The list is endless.
Alongside this some in house activities often provide the best imagery - art and painting, baking a cake, bath time, story time or even playing a simple board game. If you are having a party in the evening then i'll be there too. All create different moments that add to your story. I'll document what I see - if there are tears and tantrums then so be it, it is part of being a family. You'll probably laugh at these images the most in the years to come.
The: Other shoots
24 Shoots not only capture a 'day' of natural reportage photography, but can also combine any of the above gravitate shoots. It's not just for families too. I have done 24 'couple' shoots where they combined some outside portrait sessions, visiting relatives, getting ready for a date night whilst also doing a RAW Shoot.
Quick tip
Think about what memories you want to create and the purpose. Plans activities or around events. If you are planning on proposing or using it as a way of announcing your newborn then I'll obviously be there to document those moments.
The: taster Shoots
What are taster shoots?
A taster of fun family photography for those who might not have thought about family photography before. These shoots are at a in one location on a set day and consist of 15 minute time slots which you can book.
Each slot allows for a 15 minute taster family to capture some beautiful photographs of yourselves or your family. Shoots are £40 to attend, all photographs from the shoot will be uploaded to and online gallery in which you can create you own package. You will be gifted a £25 print credit voucher to use towards this.

In the day following your shoot occasionally you might notice a IGTV highlight video or small story preview of a couple of images on my instagram*
Once your photographs are finished I will send over a link to your personal website and all the relevant information on how to view your online gallery.
This website is a mini portal to you shoot which you are able to share with family.

Your Photographs
All the finished photographs are individually edited & retouched.
I take great care to edit each image with sensitivity, in order to keep them looking as natural as possible, whilst enhancing them by applying my developed style.
Post processing of your images will take between 2-4 weeks.

If it is for a last minute special occasion a 48hr turnaround can be done for a surcharge of £50

We live in a world where everything is electronic. It is no secret that print is a dying format!
I didn't realise the importance of printed imagery until the moment my nan passed away, I looked through the albums and now I have a wonderful collection of physical images to remember her by.
What if your hard drive breaks or you cloud system crashes, your memories are gone! That is why I now promote printed products and their importance for future generations.
All packages come with a print credit to start you off. I offer a range of prints papers, metallics and digitals (for bespoke packages) directly and hassle free from your online gallery plus I only ever print with the finest labs in the UK!
