A wedding chat Q&A with Keeley from eden wedding boutique of the Lake District

So you’re a wedding dress shop or boutique based in the Lake District, but tell us more about your business.

Eden Wedding Boutique plays host to a collection of carefully chosen gowns from leading designers Ellis Bridals, Wtoo by Watters, Willowby and Wendy Makin.  Appointments are private and exclusive, giving you full access to our boutique and allowing you to make memories with your favourite people.

Not forgetting your girls – we have a huge collection of bridesmaid dresses from Sorella Vita, all available in a wide range of colours!

Apart from the Lake District, what area do you cover?

Absolutely everywhere! Our wedding dress shop is based just outside of Penrith in the Lakes, however we send wedding dresses all over the UK.

What or who inspires you?

Since we started 5 years ago I’ve got to know so many amazing suppliers in the wedding industry. I would say they all inspire me in different ways rather than one particular person. Running your own business is fantastic but scary and sometimes we lack motivation – knowing we have each other’s back gives us the kick we need sometimes!

Let’s get to know you, tell us anything from your past , favourite anecdote or general stuff you like to do…

I worked as an account manager in the financial industry before starting Eden Wedding Boutique. I haven’t eaten cheese since primary school as it gives me really bad migraines! Oh and I’m in love with Gary Barlow (joint first with my husband – he understands…)

What would be the most important piece of advice you would give a couple getting married related to choosing a wedding dress?

Keep an open mind and be willing to try different styles, take advice from your bridal stylist.  So often a bride will come to me with a very specific idea of her dream dress and fall in love the complete opposite.

What are the most popular wedding trends currently or requests you have as a business?

We have so many different venues that styles can vary so much – making my job so much more 0interesting!  Aside from feeling fabulous brides want to be comfortable so they can eat, drink and dance!  Wedding dresses with a hint of colour always take brides by surprise – it often isn’t something they’d considered but well worth trying on!

What do you love about the wedding industry?

What’s not to love?  I’ve made a lot of friends in the wedding world – suppliers often work alone so it’s good that we have each other to lean on.  I love playing a part in my brides’ journey. They come to me around 12-18 months before their Wedding day so I get to know them really well, offering advice or just somewhere for them to let off some steam…

What, as a business, do you think you do well or is unique in making a couples wedding experience the best it can be?

I’m a pretty chilled person and this carries through in my work.  You’ll never feel pushed by me to buy the dress – it’s got to be right for you.

Tell us about your wedding day. Is there anything you are glad you did or that you would do differently with hindsight?

I got married almost 20 years ago so my wedding was pretty similar to everyone else’s around that time – no social media or internet inspo – just a collection of magazines! We got married in our local church then reception in a hotel – pretty standard in the early noughties.  One of the main things we would both change is the fact that the guest list got out of hand. We only met some of the guests for the first time on the day!  I’d definitely trim the guest list down (if you’re reading this and you were at our wedding, I don’t mean you!) Obviously one thing I wouldn’t change is the groom…..he’s ok I guess…

Do you have a favourite style or thing in your type of business?

I’d probably say my style is relaxed.  When choosing gowns for the boutique I try to go for styles that are a little different to the norm but still with classic elements.  You want your gown to be memorable.

Have you come across anything cool or unique whilst being in the industry?

I really love checking out the up and coming bridal designers at the White Gallery in London. The styles coming through can be so diverse.

What do you think makes a good wedding supplier?

Given the nature of our business we need to be honest, reliable and adaptable.  We need to wear many hats!  Good organisation of course, but balanced with a relaxed attitude.

Why do you consider your service or certain product you offer to be essential for a wedding day?

Obvs I’m biased but the dress is one of the most important things – you’re never going to wear something as special as your wedding dress.

Brown Sauce or Tomato Ketchup?

Ketchup every time!

How would you describe Gavin Jacob Power? You got any dirt?

Our one of a kind Gav!  An all round cool guy with a huge collection of snazzy bow ties and shoes!  Guaranteed to warm up any dance floor and get some bloody brilliant images from your special day.  I met Gav on my first ever styled shoot only two weeks after opening Eden Wedding Boutique – he’s been a great friend ever since!

Do you think you could beat Gavin Jacob Power in a dance off?

Crikey now there’s a challenge!

A Wedding Review about eden wedding boutique

“I went into the wedding dress shopping experience extremely anxious, and left with a gorgeous, stunning dress and a new vision of myself as someone who can look beautiful, all thanks to Keeley. This is something I never thought I could feel. I immediately knew that Keeley was not just a business owner, but a lady who cared about making this special experience as perfect as she could.  I highly recommended this boutique to anyone looking for that special dress. Keeley makes every effort to make sure you leave with the dress that makes you feel like a beautiful you.”

KEELEY’S TOP WEDDING TIP

Try not to stress over the little things – easier said than done I know.

If things don’t quite go to plan there’s a good chance nobody will ever notice so just go with the flow and enjoy your day.
