Kris + Rachel married, then partied the night away at Auchen Castle.
I have to say I’m rather fond of a Scottish wedding! when the weather is as belting as it has been, the joy of having an outdoor wedding (and not under a ‘fixed structure’) is an absolute joy. Rachel’s awesome sister, Lauren, was a bridemaid at a previous wedding I shot, and that is how i came about knowing this amazing couple! I recall a year or so ago going to meet them for a chat in a pub, on what must have been the most congested road in Northumbria.. However it was that point you can tell how easy it will be to photograph someone, and I just knew they would be awesome.
The day began with me fluttering between both parties as the preparations began! The gents were clearly proud of these personalised boxer shorts and ironing skills, and the ladies just kicked back with a glass of champers! It was all round super relaxed and just a general joy to shoot. as the day progressed through all the normal formalities it was time for one of my favourite parts of any day! the speeches! They were amazing! full of so much laughter and joy, and at one point the most embarrassed groom I have ever laid my eyes on! Que the awkward hands to face as to share remarkable resemblance to Dame Edna Everage’s glasses! A truly unique capture.
Se then had a little mooch around the grounds, and my words, I flipping loved that pond! I’m a massive fan of reflections so it was such a joy having it there, although I did have to have a cheeky run from pond to castle room to get the over lake perspective! knackering! Kris & Rachel were so in tune and a joy to shoot! everything was so natural and i barely had to say anything.
The rest of the night began with a classic ceilidh before a wonderful firework display to end my day photography, but the start of many happy days for the new Mr & Mrs!
