All the way from Vietnam – An Alternative Mount Without Wedding
Jenni + Mike spend their day to day life living out in Vietnam, however Bristol always has a special place in their heart, and the one they chose for their wedding. The Mount Without, is up there with the very best wedding venues in Bristol. It has quirk, charm, originality and a whole lot of character. Like myself, the raw authenticity is what attracted this couple to the venue. The juxtaposition of pure wedding beauty against the backdrop of the rustic almost ruinous interiors is what make the wedding venue so special. The Mount Without, you wow me in every way!
Bristol wedding photography is not complete without a unicorn, right?
Just a few yards from the Mount Without, the wedding began with a whistle stop tour with Mike. He proudly honoured all men of the world by proving we know how to iron a shirt. Meanwhile in St Werburghs. Jenni was getting ready under the watchful eye of the garden unicorn. Standard Bristol practice. Ruth Tong was working her magic before helping Jenni into her Wedding Dress. Dad, waiting at the bottom of the stairs emitted joy as her saw his daughter for the first time. At the same time Mike was now at St Michael on the Mount Without.
A celebrant led wedding ceremony at St Michael on The Mount Without
So lets talk about the legend that is John (Southville Celebrant). When Jenni and Mike told me they were having a wedding celebrant my ears perked up, as you all know I love them! These ceremonies are always more personal, and interactive with guests. I have worked with a lot of officiants in my time and John is up there with the best.
Anyway, the big oak doors opened and thanks to the help of a sign Uncle Mike knew his bride was coming! In walked Jenni, full radiance, to be greeted by a beaming groom. A quaich ceremony ended what was a glorious service, full of readings, smiles and joyful tears.
The rest of their Mount Without wedding day.
Post ceremony, the whole clan headed to the crypt for drinks, the rainclouds partied and beams of sunlight illuminated the grounds of the Mount Without. Bianchis Group were preparing the most incredible lasagne I have tasted whilst Jenni + Mike were bringing out their inner Beatles and rocking Abbey Road. the guests meanwhile were just providing pure reportage photography awesomeness.
How do you capture those reportage wedding photography bits?
I always say to my couples that the day will flow and I’ll follow the action. Therefore the moments you see are just because I am there at the right place right time. If you look and listen, as a photographer you are drawn to certain groups of people. The more interacting there is the easier it all becomes. It helps if you have a few mad folk sprinkled into your wedding – or in the case of these two, a flipping awesome Ceilidh.
A final word on Jenni + Mike, from their wedding photographer at The Mount Without.
The Mount Without has been on my wedding venue hit list! I cannot thank Jenni and Mike enough for allowing me the opportunity. Not only that but they brought some of the awesome sauce that ultimately made my job ten times easier. The pure energy and love throughout is testament to them and the wonderful duo they are.! A day to remember forever and a highlight of my wedding year thus far. Congrats you beauts, it was a joy to watch, and ultimately capture your love and connection. X
