From Switzerland To Gloucester – An outdoor wedding at Leyfold Events.

You might call it a destination wedding, or even an elopement at Leyfold Events, as this couple traveled all the way from Switzerland to the glorious countryside of Gloucestershire. Seth is originally from nearby Strode, but met Vivi whilst travelling to pastures afar. It is clear to see how awesome they are together. True creatives and stylish legends! They ooze in a fun filled attitude and this naturally flowed into their wedding in a yurt. The guests followed suit to create a relaxing yet eventfully joyful wedding day.

An outdoor wedding in a yurt in the Gloucestershire countryside

In my many years as a wedding photographer, I have had the pleasure of shooting weddings in woodlands, celebrant occasions in tipi’s and home farm weddings in marquees. This however was my first wedding in a yurt for me, but what a place. Leyfold Events have teamed up with Castle Yurts to create this spectacular seasonal wedding venue in the heart of the Gloucestershire countryside.

The day however started the Bridge House Boutique in Ross-on-Wye. In a top floor room overlooking the River Wye the bridal hair and make up teams were in full flow, courtesy of Simple Stunning Hair and Beauty. Tropical rain slaughtered the kayakers as the glided past and a proud man was reunited with his long lost tie. Luckily for us the weather cleared before we headed to Leyfold Events.

Upon arrival at this beautiful outdoor wedding venue in near Gloucester, Seth, rock a hat with his trusted Leica accomplice, was meeting and greeting the guests. A fuzzball table taking the limelight as the first beers of the day flowed. It was time for ceremony overlooking the Gloucestershire hills. Seth with a big smile on his face, stood by Vivi’s brother, who was celebrant for the day. His sister, the bride, waited inside the canvas of the yurt, preparing for the aisle walk, dad in arms.

Why is a celebrant lead wedding ceremony a must?

I cannot say anything but greatness about a celebrant lead wedding ceremony. Not only are these weddings more personable, they are relaxing, guest orientated and fun. A celebrant can be either; be one who does it professionally as a wedding supplier, or just a family member or friend. Imagine having your wedding service read to you by someone so close to your heart! In this instance, it was Vivi’s brother. He did a stellar job with the backup team of family members doing heartfelt readings under beautiful floral arch courtesy of Westerleigh Flowers. As the ceremony ended, a look of love and smile between the newlyweds lead to a kiss before walking down the aisle towards the yurt entrance.

Confetti was thrown, and largely consumed by the couple, as the champagne hit the glasses in the background. The guests greeted the now wed pair, before dispersing to enjoy the plentiful of entertainment that would make this wedding day a true joy to capture. As a reportage wedding photographer, my job is made a heck of a lot easier when guests are all over the venue and things are happening. The little things on a wedding day add the greatest impact in terms of continuity and for myself the imagery.

Those reportage wedding moments make a wedding day flow continually.

As aforementioned, this wedding was awash with mini moments of joy. From falling Jenga, to stick throwing lawn games. The food was a constant – canapés to cheese boards sweet tables to a BBQ’d wedding breakfast. The drink was flowing which may, or may not, have been a reason for a pair of legends to take a cheeky 6pm nap on the nearby gress. Simultaneously cigars were lit courtesy of a firepit. This is not really advised however If you do I shall photograph, singes and all.

As the sun set the sounds of The Rock and Rolls kings surrounded the Leyfold yurt. The dance floor was packed, shots were being downed as shapes were getting thrown on the rocking dance floor. As the beat grew so did a conga line. Although Seth, as a wedding photographer himself, whipped out the Leica to get some shots before joined the end. Legs now kicking out to the beat!

A final word on Seth + Vivi’s moment filled wedding at Leyfold Events.

I literally cannot say in words enough how brilliant this wedding day was. Leyfold Events is a beautiful venue in an incredible location. Add to that an amazing couple and so many awesome moments courtesy of there chilled, fun loving, and slight inebriated guests! A day to remember forever and a highlight of my 2023 calendar. Congrats you beauts, it was a joy to watch, and ultimately capture your love and connection. X
