If you’re reading this and wondering about your wedding photography in Stroud, or specifically planning a ceremony at one of the beautiful venues in this part of Gloucestershire, then just drop me a message for availability. I’m happy to travel across the region—and beyond—to capture love stories like yours. I photograph weddings in a documentary style, filled with realism and emotion, whilst creating a fun-filled experience for couples and their guests alike.

Selsley Common & Trinity Rooms: A Double Ceremony Celebration

Rozzy and Jonah chose a truly unique route for their Stroud wedding. Rather than sticking to the traditional single ceremony format, they decided to split their celebration across two breathtaking locations, starting atop the windswept heights of Selsley Common, then moving down into the warm, historic embrace of the Trinity Rooms.

The Hand-Fasting on Selsley Common

The story began in the mid afternoon sun on Selsley Common, where the couple conducted their hand-fasting ceremony – a beautiful ancient Celtic tradition celebrating union through the binding of hands. As the wind whispered through the common, guests gathered around, confetti ready in their hands. When the moment came, colour exploded into the sun-kissed sky. A burst of joy against the view of the Cotswolds that will forever be etched in my memory as one of those pure, documentary moments that no amount of staging could ever recreate.

Down to Trinity Rooms – Vows, Candles & the WillowArchway

After the outdoor celebration, the party made their way down into the Trinity Rooms for the second part of the ceremony. Inside, the atmosphere shifted to something softer, more intimate. The couple exchanged personal messages that had clearly been crafted with love- words that brought smiles to faces and tears to eyes in equal measure.

A candle lighting ceremony followed, symbolising these two lives coming together as one flame. Before leading everyone to the willow arch. Through the arch they went, hand in hand, to a thousand emotive embraces to honour to what lies ahead.

DIY Spirit & Friends Led Music Wedding Celebration

What made Rozzy and Jonah’s day truly special was the DIY heart behind it all. This wasn’t a wedding with hired bands or playlist services, it was a celebration powered by the people who matter most. Friends and family, either instrument laden, or taking turns behind the decks, curated the soundtrack to the day themselves. From soulful afternoon tunes to floor-stomping evening anthems, every track felt personally selected and deeply meaningful.

There’s something incredibly intimate about a wedding where your mates are mixing the music while you’re dancing beside them. The energy wasn’t outsourced, it belonged to everyone in the room. That’s the beauty of a do-it-yourself wedding: the personal touches become the memories.

Feast from Pappu Dosa

And let’s talk about the food, because wow! Rozzy and Jonah went with Pappu Dosa, a firm Bristol favourite of mine, serving up authentic South Indian cuisine that left guests raving long after the plates were cleared.

Fresh dosas made to order, an aromatic Sambar, and Panipuri to boot. This wasn’t just catering; it was a culinary experience. I’ve photographed countless wedding breakfasts, and I’ll be honest: I’ve rarely tasted food quite this good at a reception. The live dosa station meant everything came out piping hot, and the flavours were vibrant, bold, and utterly delicious. If you’re considering Pappu Dosa for your own Stroud wedding, take my word, they’re worth every penny.

The Reception & Beyond

Following the ceremonies, the Trinity Rooms transformed into a space of celebration. The lighting softened the walls, guests stood arced for the speeches, laughter, tears before eventually the decks kicked in and shapes were thrown well past sunlight, all soundtracked by the couple’s nearest and dearest.

A Final Word from Your Stroud Wedding Photographer

Rozzy and Jonah’s day reminded me why I do what I do. A tale of two people who knew exactly what kind of story they wanted to tell, and trusted me to capture it. Whether it’s the raw emotion of an outdoor hand-fasting at on Selsley Common, or the quiet intimacy under the festoon flags, every wedding has its own rhythm. My job is to listen to that rhythm, and photograph it honestly.

If you’re planning your Stroud wedding, I’d love to hear about your plans. Get in touch to check dates. I’m always here to answer any questions about venue choices, timing, or how documentary-style coverage works.
