– 25 weddings, 2 elopements, 50 silly faces, 22 venues, 12 bowties, 6 second shooters, 1 telling off and many a new friend –
Well 2018 has been a right treat on a business level, I finally feel I am moving my work to the place I want it to be. I’ve had the pleasure of second shooting 9 Weddings, and having 6 second shooters myself (listed below.) Altogether I have shot alongside ten photographers, including my Cumbrian legends Rachel Hayton & Eriin Browne – I love these two ladies more than most things!
My target of 2018 was to progress my portraiture whilst hopefully winning some awards along the way and to generally be further recognised. I’m happy to say I have done all to a certain degree, and have recently picked up awards from the likes of Ninedots, MyWed, PKIR & Wedisson. I shall venture forth and in 2019 and further progress on this. This year has also allowed me to focus more on the work I want to produce and after attending numerous workshops I feel I am now beginning to find my niche – It also has meant I now have also made many a fabulous friend, and thus have realised the wedding photography community can be truly a wonderful and inspiring world to be a part of. I implore all photographers to do the same!
So what of 2019! This Sunday I’ll be attending my first wedding fayre (info at bottom of post.) and continuing to learn and improve. This all said in September I hit a new low in a personal sense and as a result I have decided to cut back on weddings next year. I essentially want to take a year out, to allow time to focus on myself and build some foundations to progress. I plan on using this time to also rebuild my business to offer a higher standard of product and service, and finally to rebrand and launch a fresh from 2020! I do have some fabulous 2019 weddings booked in already, so on that note, here is to making new friends in 2019 and I look forward to sharing in your wedding days!
To end I would love to say thank you to all that have helped to make my year so fabulous. A special thanks goes to ‘The Harris’, ‘The Cannar’ , ‘The Griffin’, ‘The Palmer’ , ‘The Probert‘ & ‘The Grainger’ who all photographed alongside me at some point throughout the year. I have included at least one of their images in the best of below, but yeah go check them all out! Also massive thanks to ‘The Rogers’ who helped me edit in GJP HQ.
