A Beautiful Lake District wedding on the shores of Grasmere

I have since moved from the Lake District after being a wedding photographer there for eight years! Like down in Bristol is incredible however I do love a northern adventure back to the land of lakes and mountains. Grasmere is up there with my favourite lakes (or mere, if you want to have that technicality argument) – I have had the pleasure of photographing many weddings around the area but this one is definitely one I can remember! it was packed full of everything including a incredibly beautiful Bride + Groom!

Meet Michael + Kealy and their Grasmere Wedding

I remember chatting to Kealy over a Starbucks a year or so before this day, she was such a legend and right form the off I couldn’t wait for their flipping day! I arrived at the daffodil hotel in Grasmere to meet the ladies, and they went from glorious to even more glorious, before heading to the Glen Rothay Hotel where Michael and the chaps we also going from glorious to even more glorious! The wedding took place at St Mary’s Church, Rydal, and then back to the Daffodil Hotel, on the shores of Grasmere for the wedding reception and evening.

Wedding caricatures and singing waiters

I am writing this a few years down the line but I can still remember the wild party that ended the night. A raucous affair but a blinking good one at that! The calm before this storm involved drinks and jenga, before sitting down for their wedding breakfast! Each guests had a special wedding favour in the form of a caricature! It was a brilliant touch and something totally unique to this day, also something I am yet to encounter again. Then as the mocking of faces went on there was a crash, drinks everywhere waiter on the floor. But as all good waiters do, he brushed himself off and began to sing.

If you have never seen singing waiters before, or are thinking of them for a wedding then yeah, they are a cool idea to get the guests ramped up for the evening. Expect a conga and a dance off, and the spiralling of napkins! After that the drinks did flow, I snuck the couple away for a little bit of golden hour and then party kicked off

Michael and Kealy are flipping amazing! They are fit and fabulous and their wedding was a true joy to be a part of Congrats to this couple and their new addition! x
